March 23, 2018 – Houston, Texas –  Oceaneering International, Inc. (“Oceaneering”) will be recognized at the 2018 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) with a Spotlight on New Technology® Award for its E-ROV system.

This advanced system was selected based on its innovative technology, broad appeal to the industry, proven capabilities through full-scale application, and significant impact with benefits beyond existing technologies.

The E-ROV is a self-contained, battery-powered remotely operated vehicle system capable of operating for extended periods of time without being recovered to surface. Comprising an electric ROV, 4G connection buoy, and subsea cage, the system reduces cost and risk without the need for a surface vessel.

Roderick A. Larson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Oceaneering, stated, “We are honored to be recognized by the Offshore Technology Conference. Spotlight on New Technology highlights the latest and most advanced technologies that are leading our industry, and the E-ROV System is an example of how we are thinking what’s next to deliver safe and cost-effective technology solutions.”

Celebrating 50 years, OTC takes place 30 April to 3 May, 2018, in Houston, and the Spotlight on New Technology Awards will be presented on 30 April at 16:00 in the NRG Center Rotunda Lobby.

September 28, 2018 — Houston, Texas — Oceaneering International, Inc. (“Oceaneering”) today announced a new interactive cloud-based corrosion and erosion analysis system for inspection requirements called TRND.

The TRND system is a technological collaboration that combines Oceaneering’s expertise in developing a wide range of inspection technologies and tools with Ionix Advanced Technologies’ (“Ionix”) high-temperature HotSense™ platform and Inductosense Limited’s (“Inductosense”) battery-free Wireless and Non Destructive, or WAND, technology.

Espen Ingerbretsen, Oceaneering’s Vice President Business Development for Asset Integrity, said, “We are proud to be partnering with Ionix and Inductosense on this innovative corrosion monitoring solution. The TRND system will provide our customers with a remote, cost-effective condition monitoring service that can reduce the investment in additional infrastructure and hardware.”

Within minutes of installation, operators can acquire quantitative wall thickness data, which may be remotely analyzed and reported through a cloud-based data management system. Measuring less than 1.2 kilograms total mass, the TRND system can be retrospectively installed and implemented within the harshest of environments and deployed anywhere including elbows and via rope access.

The system’s reduced profile enables retrofit installation to existing assets under insulation. This means that there is no disruption to weatherproofing, providing internal pipe corrosion/metal loss monitoring and integrity inspection services without the need to remove cladding, and therefore maintaining the integrity of Corrosion Under Insulation (“CUI”) defenses.

For hazardous environments, the TRND system offers intrinsically safe ultrasonic thickness measurements in Zone 0 explosive environments up to 350 degrees Celsius (660 degrees Fahrenheit).

Record U.S. oil and natural gas production, and the Gulf Coast’s growth as the major market center and export hub for supplies sourced from both onshore and offshore fields make terminal storage and transportation infrastructure critical to the upstream, midstream and downstream segments alike. A new generation of terminal management tools is significantly improving operational efficiencies and logistics, starting at the dock, to optimize operations across an entire facility, from inlet pipelines and storage to refined product transportation and shipping.

Real-Time Data System Helps Reduce Risks Posed by Third-Party Vessels

Offshore operators face growing pressure to reduce risk in the red zone and to make better use of manpower. One of the biggest risks to people and assets is from vessels – including those that are required for offshore drilling and production operations, as well as others that are simply passing over or near assets. Earlier methods of mitigating these risks – such as setting radar range limits and scheduling periodic overflights of critical assets – often diverted teams from other important activities and have generally been proven to be inadequate. The challenge is even more difficult for operators of multiple offshore assets, who must establish risk-management procedures across many geographically dispersed locations.

REVO-GT

The REVO-GT™ is a unique vehicle system that uses self-guided, driverless group transit vehicles, each capable of transporting up to 24 passengers on a dedicated guideway allowing passengers to select from pre-programmed routes connecting different origins to one or more specific destinations.

The battery-powered REVO-GT is based on driverless automated guided vehicle (AGV) technology. The system provides a safe, flexible, low-cost, comfortable, and environmentally friendly means of transportation on a 24/7 basis – in virtually any weather conditions – with zero emissions. Its interior is climate controlled, and can maintain a comfortable environment for its passengers, even in extreme ambient conditions. Routes and destinations can be pre-programmed or passenger-selected.

Bill Bunting, Director, Business Development, Entertainment Systems, Oceaneering, said: “The move into AGV transportation for theme parks, campuses and business parks, even urban zones is a natural fit, and opens up so much opportunity to serve a broader market hungry for transportation solutions that are clean, efficient, cost-effective and, most importantly, safe and reliable. Oceaneering has been delivering those hallmarks for more than 50 years, and this is simply the next step in expanding our worldwide presence in the fields of technology adapted to solving what’s needed with what’s next.”

The REVO-GT was developed in partnership with Netherlands-based 2getthere. “Oceaneering is very excited to be teamed with 2getthere to bring the REVO-GT group transit vehicle technology to the marketplace. We have had a long and successful relationship with 2getthere over the years, working on high-profile vehicles and systems for the themed entertainment market,” Bunting said.

It has become extremely difficult to optimize product movements across an increasingly complex petrochemical supply chain. Chokepoints
at shale oil fields are complicated by capacity problems further down the logistical stream that are stimulating the construction and expansion of oil export terminals. Today’s challenges are slowing down product transports, increasing costs, and threatening to prevent oil companies from realizing the full benefits of increased capacity.

Oceaneering couldn’t keep up. The organization’s main focus is launching projects that provide subsea products and services—from remotely operated vehicles to pipeline repair—for the oil and gas industry. But Oceaneering’s project management maturity did not keep pace with the company’s growth to almost 10,000 employees in 60 locations. So its leadership began placing greater emphasis on strategic alignment a few years ago.
